Benni raring to go

2012-11-06 07:41
Benni McCarthy (Gallo)
Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates striker Benni McCarthy scored in a club friendly against University of Pretoria on Saturday and is now deemed fully fit and available for selection.

The striker has been sidelined for a number of weeks after picking up an injury on international duty against Brazil, although is now thought to be raring to go and eager to make his first Pirates appearance under coach Roger de Sa.

Bafana Bafana’s all-time leading goalscorer is yet to play for De Sa, however could now be set to make his comeback from injury when they face Mamelodi Sundowns this week.

McCarthy had an impressive first season with Bucs in their last campaign, however due to injury has had his current season stunted.

Now that he is fully fit, he will be wanting to fight his way back into the starting line-up and getting his name on the score sheet.

The former Porto and West Ham United man hasn’t pulled on the Pirates shirt since receiving a red card in the semi-final of the MTN8 tournament, where they were eliminated by SuperSport United.
