PSL
Baxter wants home 'fortress'

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter is hoping the team can make the
FNB Stadium a "fortress" this season, starting with the visit of
Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.
Amakhosi play their first home game of the new campaign this week
following away ties in the MTN8 and opening round of the PSL last
weekend.
"We are delighted to be at home for this game against Sundowns.
It is important that we make Soccer City our fortress and make it
uncomfortable for teams to dictate terms in our own backyard," the
Englishman told the club's official website.
"I am pleased with the preparations for this game. Decisions will
be made on the availability of Siboniso (Gaxa) and George Lebese who
both have been out due to different injuries."
Chiefs began the new PSL campaign with a resounding 6-0 thrashing
of AmaZulu, but Baxter is expecting an entirely different encounter
against the Brazilians, who recently conceded three goals in the 3-3
draw against Moroka Swallows in the Wafa Wafa semi-finals.
"We have put the game against AmaZulu behind us and we will focus
on Mamelodi Sundowns. They are a good team and have a lot of good
players," he said.
"We now have more information on them as compared to the last
time we met them at Loftus. We also had an opportunity to watch them
this past weekend against Moroka Swallows.
"The players and everyone associated with the Club is excited
about the upcoming game. It does not make a difference that we are
meeting them for the second time in a space of three weeks. We need to
go out there and execute our game plan. We are up for this game.
"The players have responded well to my philosophy from day one
and as the Technical Team we are pleased by the hunger they have shown
since our first game against Moroka Swallows in the Gauteng Challenge
Cup."
