Chiefs relinquished the PSL title to Mamelodi Sundowns during the 2013/14 season as the Brazilians went on to capture the crown surpassing the Naturena side on the standings.
Baxter mentioned throughout the season that the title loss had his players felt hard done by and their reaction to it had already started at the end of last season.
“It has been a long journey, which probably started at the end of last season,” said Baxter told the Kaizer Chiefs website.
“We started the league season brilliantly, going on a fantastic 19-game unbeaten run and winning the MTN8.
“However, at the beginning of this year we gave our nearest chasers Mamelodi Sundowns a bit of hope by dropping points.
"Just when Sundowns got a sniff, the guys picked themselves up, winning five league matches on the trot towards the end of the season.”
