Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has explained his decision to rest goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune for Saturday's clash with Raja Casablanca.

Khune started in Amakhosi's previous three fixtures, including the Soweto Derby, but was dropped from the starting line-up for the CAF Champions League first-leg clash.

Brilliant Khuzwayo returned to the starting eleven in place of Khune as Chiefs slumped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Moroccans.

When asked why he had elected to hand a start to Khuzwayo, rather than Khune, Baxter said: "The fact that he [Khune] has been out injured; he came back and he has had some games under his belt.

"We have a rotation policy and we have three good goalkeepers.

"In the cup competitions we choose to play all the goalkeepers, so it was part of the rotation plan and also Khune has played the last games so we don't want to break him down again."

Khune is likely to be restored to the Chiefs starting XI when they lock horns with Moroka Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday evening.
