According to the Football411 website, Stars are currently four points behind Chiefs who have 52 points, and with just five games to go the Rustenburg side have a real chance of overtaking the league leaders.
The defending PSL Champions Orlando Pirates are third with 46 points and with time running out their chance of capturing another title is quickly fading.
Johnson though does not believe that Chiefs will lose their lead after acknowledging the quality of the Chiefs squad and their English manager.
"They are the best team in the country led by the best tactician in the league. They have the lead and I don't believe they will let it go," Johnson told Football411.com.
"It can happen, but Chiefs have shown their quality despite the injuries they've had and if Baxter is doing what I think he is, and then it's their league title.
"I've said it before and I will say it again, we are here to play good football, if they slip and we take the league then great, but I am not betting on that happening."
Dikwena notched up their 100th victory in the PSL as they came from a goal down to beat Bidvest Wits 2-1 at Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday but Johnson was unaware of how many games he has won.
Since taking over at Stars in March last year he has led the team to 21 wins, 11 losses and five draws.
Johnson added: "I was not aware of that but it sounds good, thanks. I'm not into making or breaking records, let's keep it simple; we are here to play a good game of football."
