Johannesburg - "Football is a funny game isn’t it" said Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter following his side’s 3-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic in an Absa Premiership match on Wednesday night, according to the Soccer-Laduma website.
Speaking after the game Baxter admitted his side were not at their best and probably could have been a lot better on the night.
Still, the Amakhosi mentor was happy to walk away with the three points that takes his side nine points clear at the top of the table.
“Strange game, football is a funny game isn’t it?” said Baxter.
“I think we can do so many things so much better than we did tonight, and yet the lads showed a lot of character – they defended the goals bravely and what good quality possession we had we turned into goal chances.
“To win a game like this 3-0, I am delighted.
“Celtic had loads of moments (to score), partly because they played quite well and partly because we didn’t.
“We gave them the ball far too often. They had lots of situations where my heart is in my mouth and I don’t want those situations.
“I think we could have done a lot of things better, but if you would have given me 3-0 before the game I would have taken it in a heartbeat.”
