Bartlett warns Arrows

Cape Town - Shaun Bartlett warned Golden Arrows that they could find themselves back in the National First Division if they aren’t careful about the way they play.

A few hours before it was confirmed that Serame Letsoaka would take over at Golden Arrows on Monday night, Shaun Bartlett spoke to Sport24 with the knowledge that his contract would very likely not be renewed.

He was not impressed with the idea that his impending departure could well have been down to his defensive style of play.

“Then they must go with that (attacking football) because with that style they will find themselves in the NFD again,” Bartlett said.

“Football is not just about attacking. That defence, from the beginning of the season, gave us the automatic promotion.

“We only lost two games; we had 15 clean-sheets. It’s not about scoring five goals during a game, it’s about the result. But if they want that they must go for it.”

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
