Johannesburg – The University of Pretoria’s media officer Pearl Mosoane has confirmed that Steve Barker’s job is safe.

Following a string of bad results, speculation on whether Barker will still be AmaTuks’ head coach has been increasing. Their 2-1 defeat in the Telkom Knockout at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns was said to be the last straw and was set to be given his marching orders.

However, according to Soccer Laduma, Mosoane reveals that Barker’s job is safe.

“Our coach is not leaving the club,” said Mosoane.

“A meeting took place last week where the management of the University agreed they were still happy with coach Steve Barker.”

AmaTuks have lost three, drawn three and only managed one victory in their Absa Premiership campaign. The university side hold 13th position on the log with six points.

Meanwhile the Pretoria club will return to action on Saturday, October 18 against SuperSport United at Tuks Stadium in a PSL encounter. Kick-off is at 15:30.
