Cape Town - AmaZulu coach Steve Barker thinks that a victory in the Nedbank Cup against Golden Arrows could kick-start their PSL campaign.

Usuthu are currently bottom of the league standings with just nine points, half the tally of second-from-bottom Platinum Stars.

They will need a miracle to pull away from last place, and Barker is hoping it will start at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

"A win at this point in time could be just what we needed so that we gain our form back in the PSL," Barker told the club’s official website.

"It is not going to be an easy match, Arrows are in good form and we must just go out there and get the result.

"The players need to do it for themselves, for the club and for the fans that have been showing lot of loyalty towards them.

"I still believe that we can do well and whoever chooses to write us off can do that at his own risk.

“We have great players who are capable of turning things around for us and it is just a matter of a win."

Barker's side face Mamelodi Sundowns in their next league game at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
