Barker delighted with point

Johannesburg - Clive Barker was relieved to see his Mpumalanga Black Aces side leave with a point after being reduced to 10-men against Maritzburg United.

“I would have taken one point at any given time once we had lost a player,” said Barker after seeing Lehlohonolo Nonyane sent off with 25 minutes still to play.

According to KickOff.com, Barker was relieved to leave Maritzburg with a point after admitting that his side were outplayed on the day. 

“They were the better team on the day and they created most of the chances, so I think a point for us is marvellous considering that we have played a lot of hard away games.”

The result left Maritzburg United in sixth position on the log but still nine points behind log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

Black Aces, still with just the one win to their name, lie in 13th position.

Mpumalanga Black Aces next face high-flying Ajax Cape Town in what will likely be a tight PSL encounter at the Mbombela Stadium. The match will kick-off at 20:15 on Saturday, September 27.
