Cape Town - Brian Baloyi has criticised Mamelodi Sundowns’ lack of a clear plan and the tendency “of buying just because a player is available”.
Baloyi notes that the club signed 18 players over the past year and says that “the sooner we stop the chopping and changing of players and coaches, the better”.
Far from being the flunky of the bosses that he has recently been painted as, Baloyi is forthright in pinpointing the shortcomings of Patrice Motsepe’s current regime.
“I have been vocal about us buying too many players at the beginning of the season,” he says. “We had 14 new players and then brought in another four halfway through the campaign – that to me is way too much… and having three coaches in one season didn’t help either.”
Baloyi says that; “Going forward I think we need to form a core team that will only be reinforced where necessary”.
