Bafana star happy with return

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane was delighted to be named man of the match against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.

The Bafana Bafana ace, who was making his return from a lengthy lay-off, starred in a 2-0 win over the title contenders, with Sthembiso Ngcobo and Siphiwe Tshabalala getting the goals at FNB Stadium.

Victory snapped a four-game losing streak for Amakhosi - much to Letsholonyane's obvious delight.

"We worked very hard in training and we were unfortunate to have lost our previous games and in our match on Wednesday the hard work finally paid off," Letsholonyane told the PSL's website.

"I am happy to have received the Man-of-the-Match award today(Wednesday) as it is a huge confidence booster moving going into the future."

Letsholonyane admits he endured a trying spell on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury on national duty in January.

"The doctors gave me a rough estimate about the duration of my injury which was originally end of the 2011/12 season," he explained.

"Through God's will, power and doctors' help I was able to return much sooner and hopefully help my team reach greater heights with these remaining three games.

"It's never easy to watch your team-mates struggling and battling to collect points, because at the end of the day it also affects all of us, especially our supporters," concluded the Soweto-born ball-winner.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
