Bacela: We've moved on

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates striker Lennox Bacela insists his side have put their loss in the MTN8 final behind them as they prepare for the first round of the Telkom Knockout.

The Buccaneers were left frustrated following their 1-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in the Wafa Wafa finale, with many chances having been spurned.

However, with a Telkom Knockout clash against Polokwane City to look forward to on Sunday, Bacela says the loss to Chiefs is a thing of the past.

"We are professionals; the guys are over the MTN8 loss against Chiefs and are looking forward at new challenges," he told Soccer Laduma.

"In football there are wins and losses and we understand that and we try to collect as many wins as possible. We continue fighting."

The clash with Rise and Shine will take place at the Orlando Stadium, and Pirates will be looking to go one better than they did last season when they lost to Platinum Stars in the final of the competition.

This will be the first competitive cup match between Pirates and City.

The teams have met in three league clashes since Rise and Shine’s promotion to the top flight in 2013.

Buccaneers have two wins to Polokwane’s one, with the Soweto side’s second victory a comprehensive 3-0 victory recorded earlier this season.

Match is scheduled for a 15:00 kick-off on Sunday, October 5.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
