Arrows lose to Aces at home

Durban - Golden Arrows have suffered their third straight loss in the PSL when they went down 2-1 to Black Aces at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday night.

Method Mwanjali and Themba Zwane were on target or AmaZayoni while substitute Rudolf Bester scored the only goal for Abafana Bes’thende.

Clive Barker’s side asked the questions early in the match with Thabo Qalinge testing Arthur Bartman in the fifth minute, while Abia Nale did the same seven minutes later.

The deadlock was broken in the 24th minute as Mwanjali’s freekick was deflected past Bartman and into the back of the net.

Five minutes later Vuyisile Ntombayithethi headed over the crossbar at the other end after connecting with a cross from Siyanda Zwane.

However, it was the away side who finished the half strongly with Qalinge curling an effort wide in the 30th minute, while Tendai Ndoro also drilled his shot wide eight minutes later.

Arrows came close to levelling matters in the 56th minute when Deon Hotto picked out debutant Christopher Katongo inside the box, but his header was saved by Jackson Mabokgwane.

The Aces goalkeeper was eventually beaten in the 62nd minute as substitute Bester headed home from close range to bring some relief to the home crowd.

Both sides pushed forward for the winner but it was AmaZayoni who secured maximum points in the 74th minute as Qalinge squared the ball for Zwane to tap into the net.

Arrows remain at the bottom of the table with 13 points from 20 matches, while Aces are up to 10th place with 27 points from 20 matches.
