Arrows confirm Bartlett job

Johannesburg - Golden Arrows have confirmed the appointment of former Bafana Bafana striker Shaun Bartlett as their assistant coach, effective immediately.

A statement on the Arrows website read: "Shaun Bartlett, the former Bafana Bafana international has been appointed as Assistant Coach for the Lamontville Golden Arrows.

"Bartlett will bring his extensive experience of the game, spanning over 15 years of being involved in the beautiful game, to the Golden Arrows Team.

"Bartlett started his career in 2006 in Cape Town, and has over his career played for a number of local teams as well as international teams such as FC Zurich and Charlton Athletic. He won the Premier League Goal of the Season with a header against Leicester City in the 2000/2001 season.

"He made his full international debut in a friendly against Lesotho on April 26, 1995 and is currently the 2nd all-time leading scorer behind Benni McCarthy for Bafana Bafana, with 28 goals in 74 appearances.

"Shaun helped his country to the 1996 African Nations Cup and played in the 1998 FIFA World Cup, scoring two goals.

"Bartlett's appointment is a welcome addition to Lamontville Golden Arrows F.C.'s coaching team and its expected that his technical input will enable an exciting partnership, and thus continue, the exciting form shown this season."
