Johannesburg - A relative has been arrested in connection with the shooting of Vusumuzi Sangweni, the uncle of Bafana Bafana soccer star Siyabonga Sangweni, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Saturday.
"A 25-year-old man will appear in court on Monday," Captain Thulani Zwane said.
He said the man who was arrested was related to the uncle but his name could not be released until he appeared in court.
The Star newspaper reported that the arrested man was AmaZulu goalkeeper Mandla Sangweni, Vusumuzi's nephew.
While Zwane said the motive was not yet known, The Star reported that Nono Sangweni, the daughter of the injured 66-year-old man, said an argument about witchcraft had caused the altercation.
The uncle remained in hospital after he was shot and wounded near KwaMbonambi on Friday.
There was confusion on Friday after Pirates' spokesperson Floyd Mbele said that Siyabonga Sangweni's father had been shot.
However, it has since emerged that it was his uncle.
