Arendse: Josephs will hit back

Cape Town - Goalkeeper coach Andre Arendse believes newly signed shot-stopper, Moeneeb Josephs, will reach his full potential during his second spell at Wits.

Josephs, 33, re-joined the Clever Boys at the beginning of the season from the Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates, as a free agent.

Arendse, who guarded Bafana Bafana’s goal-box 67 times, is confident Wits’ decision to lure back the “Slimkat” was a good one.

"It was always going to be a great acquisition in persuading Moeneeb Josephs to come back to Wits. He needs to revive his game. He’s fallen a little bit by the wayside in terms of the national team pecking order,’’ Arendse told the Soccer-Laduma website.

"I have no doubts he’ll get himself back in there. Just the other day he came and said to me, ‘If I give you my best will it be good enough for the club?’ I said as long as he gives the team his best, that’s the most important thing.

"I have no doubt in his ability and I think he’ll get himself back into contention for a national team call-up. He brings a lot of depth and stability to our team.”

Josephs spent most part of last season on the sidelines at Pirates after surrendering his first choice ‘keeping position to Senzo Meyiwa.

The Cape Town-born Josephs has already settled well at his new club.
