AmaZulu want Chippa's scalp

Cape Town - Chippa United will host an in-form AmaZulu in an Absa Premiership match at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Chippa saw their winless run in the league extended to 10 matches when they were beaten 2-0 by Orlando Pirates in midweek.

The Eastern Cape side has claimed 17 points from 11 home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Mamelodi Sundowns, Bidvest Wits (both away) and Moroka Swallows (home).

The Chilli Boys are placed 11th on the Absa Premiership log with 24 points from 22 matches.

AmaZulu claimed a second win from their last three league matches when they defeated Bidvest Wits 3-1 in midweek.

The Durban side has claimed nine points from 12 away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Free State Stars (home), Kaizer Chiefs (away) and Polokwane City (home).

Usuthu are placed 16th on the log with 16 points from 22 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Chippa and AmaZulu have met in three league matches since 2012/13.

The Chilli Boys boast an unbeaten record, with two wins and draw from the trio of encounters.

Chippa’s only previous home match against AmaZulu was a 1-1 draw in the first half of the 2012/13 season.

When the teams met earlier this season, the Chilli Boys claimed a 1-0 win in Durban thanks to a goal from Mvelase.

Kick-off at 20:00 on Friday, March 13.
