Usuthu, Leopards share spoils

Polokwane - Craig Rosslee’s first match in charge of coach of AmaZulu ended in a 1-1 away draw to Black Leopards at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.

Lidoda Duvha’s first half goal was scored by Mahlatse Maake, but Usuthu struck back in the second stanza when they forced an own goal from ‘keeper Ayanda Mtshali to secure a share of the spoils from this Absa Premiership match.

The home side came into the game having secured two wins from their last three league matches, including a 2-1 triumph away to University of Pretoria last time out, while the visitors from Durban had lost two of their last three games.

Leopards took control of the first half but had to wait until the 39th minute to make their advantage pay, as Maake found the back of the net and ensured the hosts went into the break 1-0 up.

However, just ten minutes into the second half, an own goal from Mtshali saw AmaZulu level the game at 1-1.

Both sides created chances in what remained of the match, but neither was able to take full advantage and claim all three points on offer.

AmaZulu’s next match is at home to Wits on Saturday evening, while Leopards are away to Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
