Ajax out to defend home record

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town will target a third successive Absa Premiership win when they host Polokwane City at Cape Town Stadium.

Ajax’s last league outing saw them claim a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Free State Stars on August 26.

The Cape Town side’s two matches at home this season have produced two wins.

The Urban Warriors are placed second on the Absa Premiership log with six points from three matches.

Polokwane City played to their first draw of 2015/16 when they held champions Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 on August 25.

The Limpopo side’s previous away match was a 3-0 loss at University of Pretoria on August 22.

Rise and Shine are placed 11th on the Absa Premiership log with four points from three matches.

In head-to-head stats, Ajax and Polokwane have met in four league matches since 2013/14.

The Urban Warriors have two wins compared to one for Rise and Shine, while one match has been drawn.

Ajax have an unbeaten home record against Polokwane, with one win and one draw from two matches as hosts.

Last season the Urban Warriors took four points off Rise and Shine, winning 2-1 in Limpopo before being held to a 1-1 draw in the return game in Cape Town.

Polokwane have not beaten Ajax since the teams’ first meeting in the first half of the 2013/14 season.

Kick-off is at 20:15 on September 12.
