The Urban Warriors forward was carried off in the 1-0 victory at Lamontville Golden Arrows on Saturday having only been on the field for 22 minutes when he came on as a second-half substitute.
He fell awkwardly and looks like to miss the Leopards match, though he did do some light training on Monday and Ajax PRO Shooz Mekuto says there is a chance he will play.
“We are still waiting for the full medical report on him and at this stage it looks likely that he will miss the game on Wednesday, but we cannot be sure,” Mekuto told SuperSport.com.
Fanteni has had an indifferent season after starting the campaign well with four goals in his first eight appearances.
But he has not netted since the 1-1 draw with Jomo Cosmos in October and has had to be content with a place on the bench in the last month.
There had been speculation that he had a fallout with coach Maarten Stekelenburg after missing a day’s training in October for which he was dropped from the starting XI.
This has been denied by both the player and the coach, with Stekelenburg seemingly backing his man at the weekend when he described Fanteni as “one of our important players”.
