Ajax make U-turn over Billiat

Cape Town - It was reported last week that Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns have reached an agreement regarding the Urban Warriors' winger Khama Billiat, who “was” likely to join the Brazilians in a deal worth R9 million, with Eleazar Rodgers going the other direction.

According to the Kick Off website, an agreement between the two parties was reached, subject to the Zimbabwean international agreeing personal terms with the Pretoria-based club.

However, the deal was confirmed as being OFF by Ajax late on Thursday.

“We agreed to extend the time limit for the transfer to take place, however no agreement was reached at the set deadline. The deal is now considered cancelled,” Ajax Director Ari Efstathiou was quoted as saying.

Billiat, 23, has been linked with a possible move to various Gauteng-based teams, with SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates also rumoured to be chasing his signature.

Billiat made his debut for the Urban Warriors against the Brazilians back in 2010 in their MTN8 quarter-final encounter, which the team from the Mother City emerged victorious, 4-3, on penalties after a 1-all draw after extra-time.
