Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town’s injury list is clearing up as the 2015/16 season fast approaches with players like Travis Graham, Nathan Paulse and Ziyaad Eksteen getting closer to full fitness.
Sport24 broke the news that club captain,Graham, would be fit to feature in the Cape Town Cup last weekend after it was initially thought that he would be out for the start of the PSL season.
Graham recovered fast enough to have a big impact as a substitute against both Sporting Lisbon and SuperSport United, grabbing a late goal against the latter.
More good news for Urban Warriors is that veteran striker, Nathan Paulse and youngster Ziyaad ‘Ziggy’ Eksteen, are getting closer to returning to formal training.
Sport24 spoke to Julian Bailey from the club’s media and communications department who shed more light on the expected time frames for the players’ recoveries.
“Another three weeks or so until he [Eksteen] starts training,” Bailey said.
“Paulse is closer to returning.”
Tashreeq Morris and goalkeeper, Brandon Petersen, will be out for a while longer after both suffered serious knee injuries towards the end of last season.
“Morris with Petersen are longer term injuries,” he confirmed.
New signing Thomas Chideu also picked up an injury while on international duty with the Zimbabwean under-23 side but the player is yet to make it to Cape Town to be assessed by the club’s medical team.
