Ajax get victory over Santos

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town played two pre-season friendlies against National First Division side Santos, the results and overall team play was very positive at this early stage of the team’s pre-season programme.

The first team squad was split to be able to field two different teams to ensure that all players in the squad get maximum game-time.

The first match was played at 10:30 and saw Ruzaigh Gamildien play his first friendly match as an Ajax Cape Town player.

According to the club's website, the former Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder had a great game and rounded it off with a well-taken goal.

Some of the younger players from our U19 team got their opportunity to showcase their progress in front of head coach Roger De Sa and assistant coach Ian Taylor.

The likes of Aiden Jenniker, Olwethu Nguye, Noah Sadaoui and Jody February played among the U19’s and led the younger players  with some good performances. The match ended in a 2-1 win to the Urban Warriors.

The second match saw the likes of Anssi Jaakkola, Rivaldo Coetzee, Abbubaker Mobara and Granwald Scott take centre stage.

Riyaad Norodien and Bantu Mzwakali delivered the goods with a goal each, to seal another 2-1 victory for Ajax.

Overall it was a great day of football for both sides and both matches were played in good spirits as Ajax and Santos prepare for their respective 2015/16 seasons.

Chippa United come to Ikamva this Friday, July 10 for another round of friendly matches.
