Ajax end Amazulu's streak

Ululundi - AmaZulu's four-match unbeaten run, which included two wins and two draws, came to a grinding halt at Ulundi Stadium outside Durban on Saturday when visitors Ajax Cape Town claimed a deserving 2-1 win in an Absa Premiership clash played in steamy hot conditions.

The Usuthu took the lead when their in-form strike partnership of Tangeni Shipahu and Lehlehonolo Majoro, who have scored six goals between them in the last two games, combined for the opener.

Namibian Shipahu rounded Ajax goalkeeper Hans Vonk to score with a tap in after being set free with a defence splitting pass from Majoro in the 10th minute.

Ajax equalised seven minutes later when some hesitancy in the AmaZulu defence allowed Khama Billiat to connect decisively with Sameehg Doutie's pass from midfield.

The visitors applied the killer blow in the 51st minute when Derek Deschamps was able to head home an out-swinging corner kick from Doutie.

The goal seemed to take the stuffing out of the hosts who were wilting at a faster rate than their opponents in the stifling heat.

A composed Ajax outfit closed out the game in the remaining minutes with a solid all-round performance and banked three valuable points for their efforts.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
