Johannesburg - Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday pulled out of a deal with defender Eduardo Ferreira.
The club said in a statement that Ferreira had not lived up to his side of a deal before he makes his move to PSL rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.
"Ajax Cape Town would like to announce that that the Eduardo Ferreira deal between Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns has been called off," the Ajax statement read.
"The principle of the deal agreed was that Ferreira would represent Ajax Cape Town until the end of 2009 and move to Sundowns in January 2010."
But, said Ajax chief executive George Comitis, the defender had not shown any intention of doing so.
"Unfortunately Eduardo Ferreira’s part of the deal was to simply continue to play for Ajax Cape Town until January when the deal with Sundowns would be activated," Comitis said.
"We have decided to call off the deal after Eduardo Ferreira failed to report for training from the day that the deal was concluded.
"Ajax Cape Town will have no option but to exercise their contractual agreement with the player and suspend him until further notice."
