'Ajax CT will win league'

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic believes Ajax Cape Town will win the PSL and has given up hope of snatching the title.

The 4-0 mauling of the Urban Warriors gave the Amakhosi a sniff at a dramatic final-day triumph - but they would need both Ajax and Orlando Pirates to fail to win their last match.

"I think it's all in the Ajax's hands now," Vermezovic told The Sowetan.

"I believe Ajax have it all to lose now and I'm pretty sure they'll win their last game. I'd like to wish them the best in their last game."

Chiefs face AmaZulu at Moses Mabhida Stadium in their final fixture on Saturday and will be going all out for victory, but the Serbian mentor admits it will probably be too little too late.

"It's no longer in our hands," he lamented.

"We must now wait and hope for both Ajax and Orlando Pirates to lose their respective remaining games and we must win against AmaZulu.

"The three key things would be hard to achieve."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
