Johannesburg - Ajax Cape Town have been dealt a blow ahead of their crucial game with Maritzburg United, after midfielder Ndumiso Vezi was knocked down by a car.
According to the Soccer-Laduma website, Vezi sustained injuries to his leg and arm, meaning that he will miss the encounter with the Team of Choice, being replaced by fellow youngster, Travis Graham, in the club’s travelling squad.
A statement on the club’s official website said, “Vezi was knocked down on Thursday while returning home after visiting a friend. He suffered injuries to his leg and arm, and is currently being cared for at a local private hospital.”
The 21-year-old has only played a handful of games for the Urban Warriors this season, however has looked promising in the matches that he has featured in.
A win for Ajax in Pietermaritzburg would see them take a big step towards retaining their place in the PSL, with just one game left to play after this weekend’s round of football.
