Aces stun SuperSport

Johannesburg - Mpumalanga Black Aces snatched an injury time winner to beat defending champions SuperSport United 2-1 in their Absa Premiership match at the Puma Stadium on Wednesday.

The first half failed to produce a goal, with all the sparks flying after the break.

Aces went behind just after half time, and had to rally to first equalise, and then score the winner in injury time.

This continues the inconsistent performances of Gavin Hunt's men, after they beat Mamelodi Sundowns in their last game.

Supersport United were gifted a goal when Aces defender Joseph Henyekane headed an own goal in the 47th minute.

Aces struck back almost immediately three minutes later through a David Mathebula free kick,  given away by SuperSport defender Mario Booysen just outside the box.

Mathebula scored the equaliser with a low-driving shot into the back of the net.

Aces scored the winner in injury time through an Ngwenya headed goal.

Sidney Plaatjies sent a cross into the penalty area and Ngwenya slotted past SuperSport keeper Rowen Fernandez to grab the three points.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
