Aces send Birds crashing

Johannesburg - Goals from Abia Nale, Kwabena Adusei and Eddie Ngalo have handed Black Aces a 3-2 win over Moroka Swallows.

It was an exciting Saturday afternoon at the Dobsonville stadium in Soweto with a five goal thriller resulting in Aces picking up their third three point haul in the PSL.

For the time being the result sees Aces into the top eight with 12 points form their eight league games while Swallows hover in the wrong half of the table with nine points.

Aces captain, Nale gave his side the lead in the 25th minute after a solo run and finish from the edge of the box, 1-0.

Swallows, though, hit back in the 40th minute when Larry Cohen scored his first goal for the Birds when he got onto the end of a Dikgang Mabalane corner, poking the ball home after some sloppy defending, 1-1.

Aces, however, took the ascendancy into the break with virtually the last kick of the opening half after Kwabena Adusei headed home an Onyekachi Okonkwo corner-kick, 2-1.

The away side doubled their lead in the 60th minute after another well-worked set-piece saw Eddie Ngalo head home another Okonkwo delivery, 3-1.

Swallows, though, were not going to down without a fight and pulled a goal back two minutes later thanks to long range wonder strike from Vuyisile Wana found the corner of the net, 3-2.

Aces set up their stalls in defence after that and defended like soldiers to hold out for the win.
