Mbombela - There was no separating Black Aces and Chippa United as they played out a 1-1 draw at Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday night.

First-half goals from Edward Manqele and Lehlohonolo Nonyane ensured that both teams earned what could be a valuable point in the penultimate game of the Premiership campaign.

It didn’t take long for Chippa to open the scoring as Manqele struck in the fourth minute to put the Chilli Boys ahead.

Despite the early goal there was not much action to follow until half an hour later when Lehlohonolo Nonyane struck for Black Aces, latching onto Aubrey Ngoma's assist to send the teams into half-time with the scores level.

The second half began with three new players on the pitch, as Esau Mtsweni and Dino Ndlovu came off for Black Aces to be replaced by Tshidiso Tukane and Abia Nale soon after the break, while Buyani Sali had replaced Mhlengi Cele just before the interval.

The ref had a bit of paperwork to do in the closing stages when Black Aces players Zamoxolo Ngalo, Tshidiso Tukane and Roger Da Costa were all booked for unsporting behaviour in the 80th minute, while Ruben Cloete also went in the book for Chippa.

And that turned out to be the last big moment in the match, with the final whistle blowing with the scores level and the points shared.

The result leaves Chippa just above the relegation places, while Black Aces are not far above but just about assured of survival.
