Barker was head coach at Aces until March this year, after a string of bad results, it was amicably decided that he would step down as head coach.
He has taken over responsibilities concerning the clubs promising youth structures and also plays a role in scouting.
Barker was approached for comment on the rumours surrounding the possible signing of the former Kaizer Chiefs winger.
‘The Dog’, as he is affectionately known, did not deny that the club were interested in making a move for the Bafana star, but could not confirm anything either.
"It’s 50/50. I’m sitting on the fence on that one. You would have to get that from the directors but it will be a helluva signing," Barker said.
"I think that Aces are one of the only clubs that showed growth.
"In what they are trying to achieve as a football club they’ve done marvellously with the academy and nursery. I think they’re building good team but Masango is a big name and they need big name players."
The rumours came about after SAFA mistakenly printed Masango’s club as Mpumalanga Black Aces in a press release that listed the Bafana squad for their upcoming friendlies and AFCON qualifiers.
