Johannesburg - A 10-man Platinum Stars were able to hold out for a 1-0 win over Golden Arrows in their Premiership match at Moruleng Stadium on Wednesday.
The crucial three points eased the relegation woes for the struggling Rustenburg-outfit, as they now move to 12th on the table with 19 points from the same number of matches.
Winger Thuso Phala netted for Dinaledi from the edge of the box in the 49th minute, beating Andre Petim in the Arrows goal.
It was the side's first win, and fifth overall, for the side under interim coaches Calvin Johnson and Allan Freese, following the suspension of head coach Owen da Gama last week on alleged charges bribery.
Stars had gone a man down shortly before the interval when Ntsikelelo Nyauza was sent off for a harsh challenge on Thamsanqa Mkhize.
It was a straight red card from Nyauza, who will now miss the next two crucial matches against Black Leopards and SuperSport United.
Arrows, conversely drop to 14th with their 12th loss of the campaign.
They carry 17 points after 19 games.
The under-performing Lamontville side are also battling to move away from relegation threat this season.
