Despite failing to bring back a second star after being defeated 2-0 by Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League final second leg in Cairo, fans flocked in their droves to see their beloved team.

Banners of 'we are proud of you' were hanging in the crowd as the fans acknowledged the best performance by a South African team in the competition since Mamelodi Sundowns got to the final back in 2001.

Minister of Sports and Recreation Fikile Mbalula was on hand to say that despite the loss team had done South Africa proud as reaching the final in itself was a great accomplishment.

Orlando Pirates remains the only South African team to have won the competition and the first to reach two finals.
