Bryce Moon (Gallo)

Johannesburg - Bryce Moon could have endangered a potential move to West Ham after being involved in a car crash on Monday morning that has left a woman dead.

The Bafana Bafana right back was driving back from a Confederations Cup after party hosted by captain Aaron Mokoena and allegedly knocked down a domestic worker, Mavis Ncube, who was refused entry into two state hospitals and later passed away.

The Sowetan newspaper reports that 'Moon was also charged with culpable homicide after blood samples were taken from him at the clinic. Police are waiting for the results of the blood tests.'

The publication also revealed that Johannesburg Metro police spokesperson Superintendant Wayne Minnaar confirmed the incident by saying: "Moon sustained head injuries that is why he was taken to hospital instead of the police station."

Meanwhile, Gauteng health spokesperson Mandla Sidu admits the doctors' strike may have played a part in Ncube's death.

"We are still gathering information as to why she was turned away," he said.

"We are trying to ascertain if it had anything to do with the doctors' strike."

Skysports.com reported on Monday that West Ham have lodged an offer worth £1.5million for the Panathinaikos defender, but the Hammers will probably hold back their interest until the matter is solved.

GOD I pray that you bring peace to the family of Mavis Ncube and may GOD be with you through this tragic time. I know Bryce and he is really a good person with a good heart for ALL. GOD knows your heart and who you are and HE will guide you during this tragic time. Bryce, we here in Cape Town pray for you and the family of Mavis.

Guys please, you have to understand that private hospital/clinics need cash in advance or a medical aide. Yes they help you but you will only get basic medical attention and they will send you to a public hospital. One have to ask, what time did the accident occur? Condelonce to the family of Mama Mavis Ncube. May God bless them and may her soul rest in peace. Bryce keep well and pray for forgiveness, GOD will grant you and support you by all means.

South African facilities have no regard for human life. Money continues to play God. Rich or Poor everyone deserves to live.

It is really funny...why did they not take them both at the same time to teh same hospital...the woman was extremely critical and Moon was intoxicated and with only a head injury, and he gets best treatment...who is at fault here...our country works on WHO ARE YOU...if you are a nobody then you get the worst possible treatment

The blame lays squarely on Government's shoulders. Had they given the doctors what they wanted, then they wouldn't be on strike and Mavis would have gotten the help she needed.

How tragic considering how lovely and friendly Bryce is. He must just realise those 2 "friends" are actually his worst enemy. A true friend will take away your car keys and call a taxi if they can see you can't drive. They should have also advised the paramedics to take the lady to the same hospital and charged it to the same card that was used to admit Bryce. I hope someday our constitution would enforce a ruling to this effect: a person causing the crash being made responsible for medical bills of the affected person/persons.

Guys please not go there I can personally vouch for Bryce as I know him from a young age,he has no interest in alcohol and drugs as he is living his childhood dream of being an international soccer star....so i would say that it will be sad if he had to fall in this manner as he is a role model in our hometown of woodlands pmb......

Its sad how one thing leads to another. I was caught driving under the influence and had to bribe or else face losing my license. yes it was wrong but who wants to go thru the system again of having to obtain a driving license?. Point is I have learnt my lesson (after a previous lesson of being behind bars for 12hrs and was the worst time of my life).I just feel sorry for Bryce whom now virtually if the law takes its course has no future. I hope Mavis rests in peace.

The stike as a scape goat. As for our talent: he's still human and should be charged as any other citizen. But then again, money talks... and you know what walks.

Afro-pessimism is one of the biggest challenges facing Africa, and it's sad that our own citizens are feeding this monster by always talking down their own country. Headline "Confed Cup ends in tragedy" talks to the incident about a German journalist and one of our best footballers is involved in a crash and the Headline reads"Moon involved in car crash", sad.

Yha ne? he knocked a "human being".....but its a "car crash"...what's wrong with these headlines? i just personally think "accident" would have been fair enough.....

Another talent heading straight to waste. booze, money and women. he is sent to a private clinic while the woman is left bleeding on the pavement. justice must prevail.
Anonymous User6/30/2009 9:26 AM
Please let this not be a double tragedy. Another sportstar caught up in drugs and alcohol and our hospitals failing those they are meant to save.
Anonymous User6/30/2009 9:20 AM
No doubt he was p*****. Another blot on Soccers score card!!
Anonymous User6/30/2009 9:15 AM
It is funny that Moon was taken to hospital when Mavis was refused entry at state hospitals
