Mbuyane, 30, played an influential role in Pirates' revival after coming on as a second-half substitute in their MTN8 quarter-final at the Mbombela Stadium last Sunday.
The Mamelodi-born Mbuyane assisted fellow striker, Lennox Bacela, with his second-period of extra-time equaliser after displaying his fancy footwork on the right-hand side before placing a low cross for Bacela to finish.
“The Juju-man” as Mbuyane is affectionately known shared his overall impressions about his team’s progress to the last four of the R8 million competition, exclusively with Sport24 on Wednesday.
“It was a good game. I needed to have a great game so that I build my confidence as I get back in the team. I am glad we won that match and are now in the semi finals,” Mbuyane said.
Mbuyane also gave credit to his coach, Roger De Sa along with his technical team, hinting at the fact that De Sa wanted his charges to exert more pressure on their opponents.
“The guys from the bench complemented the team very well. The guys in had already build a great momentum and we put United under pressure. We went in just to do what the coach wanted. He wanted us to be effective and that is what we did”.
The former Free State Stars “Ace” also stressed out that he would like to be part of the Buccaneers' triumphs this season and the only way to achieve that is to have a regular game time.
“I would like to firstly play more games, with more games one gets better, but over and above that I obviously have my personal objectives which are to be influential in all games I play. As a team we want to win and I certainly hope to be part of that success."
