Mbalula: Eyes will be on SA

Johannesburg - Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula feels it is imperative South Africa deliver a successful Africa Cup of Nations next year.

The 2010 Soccer World Cup hosts were asked to stage the tournament after Libya withdrew as hosts due to political upheaval.

"This coming year in Jan 2013, African will grace South Africa. We welcome you to our country."

Mbalula was speaking at a final qualifying draw at Emperors Palace on Thursday, which pitted African heavyweights Ivory Coast against Senegal.

South Africa won the continental showpiece on home soil in 1996.
