Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi says that he had a fruitful talk with Teko Modise before the game against Santos.
Pirates managed to beat the People's Team 2-1 in their MTN8 quarter-final at the Orlando Stadium with Modise playing a part in Daine Klate's winning goal.
The match also marked Modise's first appearance in the club's colours this season, where he showed signs of improvement from last season's dismal campaign for both club and country.
Lekgwathi was speaking at the MTN headquarters in Fairlands on Monday where Pirates were drawn alongside Kaizer Chiefs in the crunch semi-final fixture.
"I had a chat with Teko before the game started because I could see that he was nervous," said Lekgwathi.
"I told him that he must not put himself under pressure and go out there and play as normally does.
"I think that he did played well in that game, and is getting back to his best form, so just give him some time."
Lekgwathi added that he was pleased with how the defence played in the absence of the suspended Rooi Mahamusta and Happy Jele and the injured Lucas Thwala.
Bucs coach Ruud Krol opted for the versatile Oupa Manyisa at right-back, with Zimbabwean Zvenise Makonase, Ruben Cloete and Lekgwathi completing the back four.
"I think that we did well, and as an experienced player I was communicating constantly with the guys, especially Manyisa who played about three or four times in that position last season," said Lekgwathi.
"But as much as it doesn't matter who I play alongside at the back, I'm happy that Rooi and Happy are now back from suspension and are available for selection for our next games."
Pirates' next game will be this season's Premiership opener against Vasco da Gama at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday night.
