Lekgwathi is ready for war

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi says his team-mates are ready for war ahead of the Carling Black Label Cup at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Speaking after the announcement of the teams Lekgwathi admitted that will any derby match with Kaizer Chiefs, pride and bragging right are at stake and each and every player selected will be taking the clash seriously.

He told the club's official website: "The supporters have selected their team, it's their opinion and we (players) are determined to go out there to make them happy.

"I know some people see this match as a friendly or an exhibition game as it has been selected by the fans, but having played a lot of derbies before, I have warned my team-mates that there's no friendly or playing for fun against Chiefs. They have taken my word seriously and they are ready for war.

"Every game against Chiefs is tough, as it's about pride at stake and bragging rights. Despite winning our previous clash (referring to the Vodacom Challenge) against our rivals exactly a week ago, we are going to give them the kind of respect that they deserve. Therefore, for us it's business as usual and no fun.

"I am very happy with our supporter's selection. All round, it's a strong team and I am confident as most of the players in the team played a big role in our treble success last season. As I have said before, the supporters have made their choice, all what we have to do is do make them happy on Saturday."
