Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs winger Siphiwe "Shabba" Tshabalala has come out in defence of goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, after their loss to Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final at the weekend, according to a Sowetan report.
Khune came under a lot of criticism after the 107th minute long-range strike by Oupa "Ace" Manyisa that saw Pirates successfully defend their title on Saturday night.
Tshabalala said on the Kaizer Chiefs website: "We came here to play as a team. When we win we do so as a team and when we lose it is the same. To single out one player is not fair."
Khune wrote on Twitter: "It's wrong to blame me for the defeat against Pirates, I'm not Kaizer Chiefs. We play as a team. I need protection."
Chiefs and Pirates meet again in an Absa Premiership match at Soccer City on Saturday.
