17:07 - Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter will be licking his wounds after never tasting defeat at FNB Stadium before today, but all is not lost as his team will now aim to gain the upper hand at the Orlando Stadium in the second-leg later next month on 24 September. Cheers folks... See you then!!

17:01 - Orlando Pirates midfielder Lehlohonolo Masalesa has been named Man of the match for his efforts today. He earns himself R8000 and the match ball.

16:56 - So Pirates are beaming after taking one step towards exacting revenge on their bitter rivals Kaizer Chiefs. Amakhosi stole the Carling Black Label Cup from the Buccaneers just ahead of the start of the season with a narrow 1-0 win in the first derby of the season. But it is not over yet as Chiefs still have a chance to pull this one back at Orlando Stadium, where they face the Buccaneers again for the second leg.

16:54 - That's it! Pirates move closer to progressing to the final as Chiefs falter in the MTN8.

16:52 - Baxter is on the touchline shouting out instructions but it seems all too late for Amakhosi as the first leg of this semi-final draws to a close. Just seconds remaining now.

16:49 - One minute left of full-time and Chiefs are looking weary. Four minutes of extra-time has been added.

16:44 - PICTURE:

Brick wall: Chiefs' Tefu Mashamaite has been solid in defence today. His composure at the back has helped Chiefs get back into the game in the second half. (@Kaizer_Chiefs)

16:42 - Tshabalala with another driving run before unleashing a fierce shot coming in from the right, but his attempt falls just short of goal. Chiefs are getting closer.

16:38 - Erasmus hits the ground running and gets in on the action with header on goal, just wide though as Chiefs get caught napping. Is there a way back into this one for the mighty Amakhosi?

16:34 - Substitution for Pirates: Klate limps off, presumably injured and makes way for Kermit Erasmus to come on.

16:30 - Chiefs wonderboy Tshabalala fires in a thunderous drive from just outside the box, but fails to direct it passed Meyiwa. Close but no cigar for Amakhosi!

16:24 - Klate is stretchered off after a minor injury but is back on the field now after being treated. Gabuza gets his Pirates debut as Bacela makes his way out.

16:19 - Amakhosi definitely a more settled side now after the break. They are holding onto the ball very well with some possession play - they need to make it count though. 62 minutes played - the ball more in Pirates' half now as Chiefs up the ante!

16:15 - The crowd is really getting behind their teams at this derby in Soweto. Here's a TWEET to confirm:

55' Electrifying atmosphere here inside the FNB stadium. 0-1 - @OfficialPSL

16:12 - 51 minutes gone and Musona with a chance for Chiefs. He shows some good control, but loses concentration and fails to keep his shot low, sending the ball into the crowd, much to the delight of Pirates goalkeeper Meyiwa.

16:10 -  Musona's introduction seems to have given Chiefs an extra edge. Amakhosi are looking more focused in the second half, but Pirates are not holding back either.

16:08 - Chiefs hope to boost their attack with a substitution as Musona comes on for Majoro.

16:03 - With Orlando Pirates having enjoyed a lively opening 45 minutes with Daine Klate scoring the opener to give them a 1-0 lead over Kaizer Chiefs, the second half is now underway. Let's hope for some more goals as Chiefs look to find a way back into this derby and keep their hopes of lifting the MTN8 trophy alive.

Stuck in: Thabo Matlaba of Pirates and Bernard Parker of Chiefs challenge for the ball in during the MTN 8 1st Leg semi final match between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates from FNB Stadium in Soweto.

15:48 - It's half time in Soweto folks. The score is still Kaizer Chiefs 0 : 1 Orlando Pirates thanks to that top class free-kick from the talented Daine Klate.

15:47 - Siboniso Gaxa has been yellow carded after a sloppy tackle on Klate.

15:38 - Amakhosi are slowly clawing their way back into this heated derby clash as Mathoho's header forces a save from Meyiwa. This match is far from over!

15:32 - Chiefs have been doing most of the defending so far as Pirates look keen to take revenge after Amakhosi took the Carling Black Label Cup away from Pirates just ahead of the start of the season with a narrow 1-0 win in the first derby of the season.

15:29 - TWEET:

What a goal, our boys looking good today !!! - @odwandungane

15:23 - Pirates really looking the better team at the moment with that man Segolela proving to be quite a menace on the left. He just easily rounded a Chiefs defender inside the box on the left before pulling the ball back and forcing Khune to make a crucial save.

15:20 - Shoo! It's really getting tense out there. Jele has now been booked for a dangerous tackle in midfield. Parker fails to make the free-kick count, sending the ball way over the bar some 40 yards out.

15:14 - Wow! What a goal from Klate. He really got that ball to swerve with his favourite left foot, beating Khune from the left-hand side of the box by putting the ball in the top left corner. Top stuff from the attacking midfielder!

15:13 - Daine Klate scores a stunner! 13 minutes in and Pirates are ahead. That early pressure has paid off.

15:12 - Pirates have a free-kick just outside the area and....  GOAL!!!

15:07 - With only five minutes gone, Chiefs' Willard Katsande has already received a yellow card as the Buccaneers continue to press for an early goal.

15:04 - This much anticipated derby MTN8 semi-final clash is underway, with some early pressure from Pirates.
