Johannesburg - Itumeleng Khune's homework paid off after he thwarted Tottenham's attackers during Kaizer Chiefs' 1-0 Vodacom Challenge victory.
The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper was named man-of-the-match for his inspiring performance, which helped his team start the new season on a positive note.
Khune, who recently returned from a spell on the sidelines, showed tip-top form and looks more than ready for the challenge of another trophy-hunting campaign.
"I was just doing what I had to do, keeping the balls from going in," he told his club's official website.
"It was touching to read some of the English sites' reaction to the game and those saves. The first one, I knew that with Crouch on they will go wide and send crosses in towards him.
"At half time I did some drills around preparing to deal with his aerial threat, it paid off."
Khune also revealed the team's new kit is more than just a fashion statement, but it is symbolic of new beginnings for the Amakhosi as they prepare for another season.
"There is a feel good factor in the team and believe it or not, one of the reasons for that is the new kit which Nike have designed for us.
"It spells a change for us, it is a different design, which also marks a fresh start and a new dawn for us as a team."
