Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs are chasing a league and cup double this season, as the Soweto giants lead the Absa Premiership table with two rounds of league action left to go and having secured their place in the Nedbank Cup final.
According to the Soccer-Laduma website, Chiefs have not reached the Nedbank Cup final in its current format, since its inception five years ago, while the league crown has eluded them for nearly eight years.
The Amakhosi are poised to rewrite the history books under coach Stuart Baxter, however will have to be at their best in the final sprint of the season.
The Amakhosi will face the winner of the second semi-final, between Platinum Stars and SuperSport United, in the Nedbank final and the club captain, Itumeleng Khune, says that it is up to the players to clinch the trophy.
"We have a game to play and win before we can lift the trophy. We have to fight as a team as it is up to us to make sure that we will this cup. We have done so well up to this stage of the cup and we can't just lose it like that in the final.
"We want it, not just for us, but for the chairperson and our supporters, and we deserve it," the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper concluded.
Ahead of the cup final, Chiefs will face SuperSport United and University of Pretoria in their final two league games of the season.
