Khan wants future Bafana

Johannesburg - South African coach, Farouk Khan, is looking to help Bafana Bafana prepare for future World Cups by creating a ‘Dream Team’ of young talent.

Khan, who is the head of the highly acclaimed Stars of Africa Academy, has told the Siya crew that he wants to bring together a group of the most talented young footballers in the country and spend time moulding them into world stars.

In a project that could be known as the ‘Dream Team’ Khan will assess a number of under-13 players before picking a select few to take with him to prepare for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach explained, “I’m looking at what I want to call a ‘Dream Team’, I want to recruit nationally a team of under-13s who I can work with for six or seven years. It’s going to be something along the lines of ‘Dream Team 2022’. We want to source the best talents and help them prepare with a long-term plan for the future World Cups.”

Khan has been influential in the careers of several high profile South African players such as Itumeleng Khune, May Mahlangu and Tokelo Rantie and his idea could be one that could greatly benefit the Bafana sides of the future.
