Johannesburg - Following media reports that Danny Jordaan is targeting votes from the CECAFA region ahead of the CAF elections, to challenge reigning CAF president Issa Hayatou for his position, the
Siya crew can now reveal that Jordaan has withdrawn himself from the CAF executive member contest .
A
Soccer-Laduma source close to Jordaan said the football administrator felt that he has enough on his plate and that he wants to give other people a chance.
“You know, he is not greedy and plus he does not want to be seen fighting some of his people like Kalusha Bwalya who is close to him, hence he felt it’s better he withdrew himself,” said the source.
Now Jordaan is set to be appointed as a FIFA executive committee member sometime next year after the Port Elizabeth–born administrator did a sterling job during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
