Cape Town - Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Andile Jali had to watch his new team-mates grab maximum points from the sidelines as KV Oostende defeated Sporting Charleroi 1-0 in the Belgian league last Saturday.
Jali was expected to feature for his new team and even stated as much in a personal conversation on Twitter with his Bafana Bafana compatriot, Itumeleng Khune, on Friday.
According to a report on the SowetanLIVE website, Jali's chances of playing on Wednesday, when Oostende host Lokeren in the second leg of their Belgian Cup semi-final, are also limited.
Jali had his paperwork approved on Thursday and passed his medical, putting him in line for a chance to play against Charleroi.
It was also rumoured that “Gattuso” was not fielded due to the fact that his new coach, Frederik Vanderbiest, wanted to keep the momentum from the mid-week encounter after his side drew 1-1 against KSC Lokeren in the first leg.
It remains to be seen if Bafana’s industrious midfielder will be given a run on Wednesday or not.
