PSG appoints Kluivert as director of football

Paris - French champions Paris Saint-Germain has appointed former Netherlands striker Patrick Kluivert as its director of football.

PSG said in a statement that it hopes Kluivert will "bring all of his experience of playing at the very highest level and expertise."

The 40-year-olds task is to help develop the club at national and international level and to further relations with the world's top clubs and players.

Kluivert, who scored 40 goals for the Netherlands and 120 goals in 255 games for Barcelona, says he hopes to show "a lot of ambition."

He was as an assistant to Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal at the 2014 World Cup, where the Dutch finished third.

During the recent European Championship in France, he worked as a television consultant for beIN Sports.
