Neuer extends Bayern contract until 2021

Berlin - Bayern Munich has extended the contract of Germany's world-class goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, binding him to the Bundesliga giants until 2021, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

Neuer, who has been voted world goalkeeper of the year in 2013, 2014 and 2015, is set to see out his career with Bayern and will be 35 when his new deal expires.

It means the 30-year-old is the fifth Bayern star to commit to the Munich club until 2021 alongside Jerome Boateng, Thomas Mueller, David Alaba and Javi Martinez.

Neuer has played in each minute of Bayern's 30 league games this season and has conceded only 14 goals with the club having lost only twice in Germany's top flight.

According to German daily Bild, Neuer is set to earn €15m per year to put him on a par with Bayern's top earners like his Germany team-mate Mueller.

"I feel very comfortable at Bayern and I am glad that the deal is done," said Neuer.

Bayern are hunting a repeat of their 2013 treble.

They face Atletico Madrid away next week in the first-leg of the Champions League semi-final, they beat Werder Bremen 2-0 at home on Tuesday to reach the German Cup final on May 21 and are seven points clear in the Bundesliga with four games left.

"We are still bidding for a few titles and have great chance to win a lot this year," said Neuer, who won the 2014 World Cup with Germany.

"That's our goal now in the short term, but also to do the same in the coming years."

"I'm looking forward to the future at Bayern."

Neuer joined in 2011 from Schalke and has won three German league titles, two German Cup, the Champions League, the Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup with Munich.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said he was pleased to have secured Neuer's signature.

"He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and we are very happy with his performance," said Rummenigge.

"Manuel is as secure as a bank in goal and we are happy he has decided to stay at Bayern by signing a new contract.

"We've now bound all our top players to FC Bayern on very, very long contracts.

"The fans shouldn't worry about the future."

The only big name Bayern have yet to tie down to a contract extension is top-scorer Robert Lewandowski, whose current deal expires on 2019.
