Howedes set to complete Juve transfer

Cape Town - Benedikt Howedes is expected to complete his transfer to Juventus after ignoring interest from the English Premier League.

The 29-year-old German international, who has spent his entire career with Bundesliga side Schalke, was targeted by the Italian champions to bolster their defence.

The player's agent Volker Struth revealed that while his client received an offer from the Premier League, he only has his eyes on Juve.

Recent reports from Italy say the defender will join the Serie A side on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

Struth told Sky90: "I expect the deal to go through.

"It is about the details now. There is an offer from England too, but the club is only a little attractive."

It is believed that Liverpool and Leicester were two Premier League clubs keen on signing Howedes.
