Deulofeu happy at Milan despited Barca interest

Cape Town - Spain winger Gerard Deulofeu says he wants to remain at AC Milan beyond the end of the season, amid reports of a return to Barcelona.

The 23-year-old is currently on loan at the Rossoneri from English Premier League side Everton until the end of the season, after seeking a move away in search of regular first-team football.

And his decision to leave Goodison Park in January has proved fruitful for the Barcelona youth product, with his performances under Vincenzo Montella earning him a recall to the Spain national team.

However, these displays have also alerted Barcelona, after the club's director Robert Fernandez admitted the La Liga Champions may be tempted to activate the buy-back clause inserted into his contract with the Toffees.

"I'm happy at Milan, I'm doing well and I want to continue like that," Deulofeu told reporters, while on national duty.

"If I hadn't left Everton to join Milan then I wouldn't be here (with Spain).

"They have shown great trust in me and I'm very thankful to Milan but I'm not sure what will happen in the future. I'm on loan from Everton and Barcelona have the chance to buy me back.

"It is nice to hear things said about you but if I was to stay at Milan then I'd be happy. It is a great club.

"I must say though that I'm not thinking about the future, I'm only focused on the present and we will let the future take care of itself."
